Veterinary experts in the heart of Grabouw’s community
Grabouw Animal Clinic is a modern, progressive facility, serving the animal care needs of the Grabouw community since 2005. The clinic is affiliated with Hermanus Animal Hospital, the oldest veterinary practice in the Overberg.
From minor ailments to conditions requiring serious intervention, we're here to take care of your pet's wellbeing.
Our veterinary surgeons have earned a reputation for exceptionally high standards in surgical procedures.
Horses, cattle, sheep... And yes, we do offer house calls.
Compassion, care, competence and a convivial community spirit have shaped Grabouw Animal Clinic into a trusted practice where Overbergers have the confidence of knowing their beloved animals are in excellent hands.
At Grabouw Animal Clinic we work very closely with Rescue Animal Drive (RAD) and Grabouw Animal Welfare (GAWS) in an effort to help everyone in our community with primary care, vaccinations, sterilisations and treatment of all pets and production animals.
In addition, the Elgin Valley Community Veterinary Clinic (an NPO) was established to raise funds to assist animals from our farms and the greater community, working together with the welfare organisations. Read more about the outreach initiatives here.
When you entrust your precious animal to the care of our qualified staff, you can be assured of the compassion and professional expertise that have established Grabouw Animal Clinic in the heart of our community. Clinic owners Drs Michelle Lawrance and Greg Simpson and their experienced team have built a solid reputation and loyal client base across the Overberg.

Humans rate us highly (Their animals too)
I have known Dr Michelle Lawrance since 2007. We had two Airedales; both were given care of the highest standard – in 2 cases, life saving operations. We followed Dr Lawrance when she set up the Grabouw Animal Clinic and have never taken our dogs, horses, cattle or sheep anywhere else.
The surgery is wonderful, spotless, staff are extremely pleasant and skilled. Care of the animal is second to none. Our dogs absolutely adore Dr Lawrance; going to the vet is a treat, not something to fear.
Dr Lawrance is one of the most dedicated vets I have ever had. A truly gifted surgeon, wonderful diagnostician, compassionate, caring. She treats our horses on the farm too.
She is extremely practical with a huge dose of common sense, rare nowadays. [Shortened]
Grabouw Animal Clinic is one of the most treasured institutions of the Elgin Valley. We have the privilege of having a fantastic surgeon, Dr Michelle Lawrance, in the practice. Our labradors have required Dr Michelle’s skilled surgeon hands many times. Her practical, experienced and specialist approach, is truly rare, respected and highly valued. My labradors’ big, happy faces when they see Michelle, is testimony of the love, kindness, and care that Michelle is known for. We are grateful to have access to a veterinary practice that offers specialist services, for the help at all hours so many times, the efficiency and kindness of the staff, and the sincere caring and love expressed towards our pets. These are real people that truly care.
We cannot express our gratitude enough to have such a fantastic veterinary clinic in town and unreservedly recommend this practice. [Shortened]
When I moved to Grabouw with my 6 French bulldogs, 8 years ago, I was concerned that the small-town veterinary practice would not be able to handle these brachycephalic dogs, notorious for all sorts of health problems. In Cape Town I had various specialists. How wrong I was! In Grabouw, with Dr Michelle Lawrance, I had it all in one; undoubtedly the best veterinarian I have come across.
Her diagnoses are quick and accurate and her level of care goes far beyond the call of duty. Dr Lawrance is up to date with the latest methods and medicines, and the good health and longevity of my dogs can almost certainly be ascribed to Dr Lawrance. Merci beaucoup, Michelle. [Shortened]
